Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Dining Hall Supervisor for the Worcester Dining Commons. This role reports to the Food Services Manager and oversees daily dining and bar operations, ensuring efficient service, sanitation, and compliance with liquor regulations.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, cash handling, inventory, and recordkeeping, and supporting events. Requires two years in food service supervision, experience with alcohol service, and food-handler

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in a food service supervisory capacity.
• Experience as a bartender or with preparing and serving alcoholic beverages.
• Certified as a food handler within six months of appointment from a recognized program.
• Knowledge of large-scale food service operations.
• Knowledge of cash register operations and related cash handling procedures.
• Knowledge of personnel control and record keeping.
• Knowledge of recipe comprehension and menu construction.
• Knowledge of equipment sanitation and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of dining and bar service areas and ensure efficient customer service.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and alcohol service regulations.
• Supervise staff, cash handling, inventory, and recordkeeping; manage opening and closing procedures.
• Assist in planning special events such as banquets or conferences within the unit.
• Assist in staff placement for efficient production and serving schedules.
• Prepare and serve beverages; maintain the bar area and ensure alcohol service compliance.
• Maintain unit records related to cash flow and charges.
