Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a part-time delivery driver for Dining Services on campus.

The role requires 20–25 hours per week during the school year, typically Monday–Friday 8:00am–1:00pm, with possible evenings and weekends to cover events and training. You will pickup and deliver food, equipment, and supplies between Dining Services operations and catering events, with daily deliveries and dorm deliveries, while maintaining inventories and equipment and following safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• ServSafe certification is required; must obtain within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and deliver food, equipment and supplies between Dining Services operations and catering events.
• Daily food deliveries between operations and dorms; maintain storage and inventories.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment; ensure gas, oil and tire pressure; report issues.
• Observe safety, sanitation and MSDS policies; adhere to protocols and drive policies.
• Assist with custodial, dishwashing, production and delivery duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE: Part-time, 20 - 25 hours/week when school is insession. Monday-Friday 8:00am-1:00pm. May include days, nights,and/or weekends, flexibility to work all shifts as needed covering Academy sponsored functions and attending training sessions. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for the pickup and delivery of food,equipment and supplies between Dining Services operations andcatering events driven by the needs of the business. These includedaily food deliveries between operations, catering deliveries, dormdeliveries, picking up of equipment/supplies in dorms and supportin Lamont Health deliveries.

Job Responsibilities

• Proper maintenance and storage of food items and equipment indelivery vehicles.
• Keep all equipment, vehicles, hand trucks, dollies clean and inworking order.
• Responsible for basic maintenance of vehicle/s, ensuring gas,oil and tire pressure. Report any problems to directsupervisor.
• Maintaining proper storage and return of items to correctstorage areas.
• Adhering to established protocols, policies, driving zones andspeed of vehicle.
• Adherence to Dining Services and Academy policies andprocedures.
• Adhering to Serve Safe best practices in securing thetransportation of food and supplies.
• Assist in maintaining complete and accurate inventories of allitems
• Observe all policies including MSDS, safety andsanitation.
• Keep informed of all material safety data.
• Perform custodial, dishwashing, production and delivery driverduties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some college experience helpful.
• ServSafe certification is required. Must be able to obtain certificate within 60 days of hire (attend required class and passtest).

Experience

• Must be 21 years of age or old
• Driving experience of commercial vehicles preferred.
• Experience in working in an institutional or campussetting
• Customer service experience desirabl
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational settingis preferred.

1. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work andwill require the ability to remain standing for extended periods oftime, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objectsas well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.

1. Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs withoutassistance.
2. Ability to withstand exposure to inclement weather (rain, snow,sleet, freezing temperatures, etc.).
