Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX, invites applications for the Simulation & Digital Twin Engineer role to design, develop, and integrate simulation and visualization capabilities for Caterpillar’s next‑generation digital twin and machine behavior modeling.

You will work with NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, and modern C++/Python toolchains. You’ll build and deploy against a data foundation of over 1.6 million connected assets, enabling AI models, edge computing, and software systems that scale across fleets

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering,, Robotics, or a related field.
• Basic experience developing digital twins or simulation with exposure to high‑fidelity modeling, physics‑based simulation, and real‑time visualization.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, including USD workflows, Omniverse Kit/Code, PhysX, or Omniverse‑based pipeline development.
• Hands‑on programming skills in C++ and Python
• Experience in validating simulation models and digital twins using test data correlation, scenario‑based testing, regression testing, and telematics/real‑world data.
• Knowledge of 3D scene construction, rendering concepts, and UI development for real‑time visualization

Responsibilities

• Simulation Development: Develop the simulation logic and behavioral models governing machine and system behavior.
• Real‑Time 3D Visualization & Omniverse Engineering: Create high‑fidelity 3D models, scenes, and environments using NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, and Omniverse Kit‑based pipelines.
• Validation & Testing of Models and Digital Twins: Execute model validation and verification plans, ensuring digital twins are accurate and numerically stable.
• Integration & Platform Engineering: Contribute to toolchain and pipeline design, including scripting utilities, automated test frameworks, and modular code libraries.
• Digital Twin Tooling & Ecosystem Support: Work hands‑on with multiple digital‑twin platforms, such as NVIDIA Omniverse (primary environment), CARLA, Siemens NX/Teamcenter/Plant Simulation, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Ansys Twin Builder, or similar, Unity or Unreal Engine. Integrate data, models, or external simulation engines into unified digital‑twin experiences.
