Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Simulation & Digital Twin Engineer to design, develop, and integrate simulation and visualization capabilities for the next-generation digital twin. You will work with NVIDIA Omniverse, USD workflows, and modern C/Python toolchains to model machine behavior and create interactive 3D experiences.

The role involves validating models, integrating multiple digital twin platforms, and delivering scalable, data-driven simulations for real-world jobsites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• Experience with digital twins or simulation and high-fidelity modeling.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse including USD workflows and Kit/Code.
• Hands-on programming in C and Python.
• Experience validating simulation models with test data and telematics data.

Responsibilities

• Simulation development: design logic and behavioral models for machine/system.
• Real-time 3D visualization: create high-fidelity 3D models and scenes.
• Validation: execute verification plans for digital twins to ensure accuracy.

**Role Definition**

The Simulation & Digital Twin Engineer will design, develop, and integrate simulation and visualization capabilities that support Caterpillar's nextgeneration digital twin, machine behavior modeling, and interactive 3D experiences. This role combines simulation engineering, realtime visualization, and 3D scenebuilding using NVIDIA Omniverse and modern C /Python toolchains.

**Responsibilities**

* **Simulation Development:** Develop the simulation logic and behavioral models governing machine and system behavior.

* **RealTime 3D Visualization & Omniverse Engineering:** Create highfidelity 3D models, scenes, and environments using NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, and Omniverse Kitbased pipelines.

* **Validation & Testing of Models and Digital Twins:** Execute model validation and verification plans, ensuring digital twins are accurate and numerically stable.

* **Integration & Platform Engineering:** Contribute to toolchain and pipeline design, including scripting utilities, automated test frameworks, and modular code libraries.

* **Digital Twin Tooling & Ecosystem Support:** Work handson with multiple digitaltwin platforms, such as NVIDIA Omniverse (primary environment), CARLA, Siemens NX/Teamcenter/Plant Simulation, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Ansys Twin Builder, or similar, Unity or Unreal Engine. Integrate data, models, or external simulation engines into unified digitaltwin experiences.

**Required Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
* Basic experience developing digital twins or simulation with exposure to highfidelity modeling, physicsbased simulation, and realtime visualization.
* Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, including USD workflows, Omniverse Kit/Code, PhysX, or Omniversebased pipeline development.
* Handson programming skills in C and Python.
* Experience in validating simulation models and digital twins using test data correlation, scenariobased testing, regression testing, and telematics/realworld data.
* Knowledge of 3D scene construction, rendering concepts, and UI development for realtime visualization.

**Summary Pay Range:**

$97,530.00 - $158,480.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
