Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of the digital twin and simulation stack in Irving, TX. You will guide full-stack efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate with robotic teams to deliver high-value, quality software.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years backend experience in Java or Node.js, 5+ years frontend with HTML/CSS/JS, and strong Python plus AI tooling capabilities. Relocation and visa sponsorship are available.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on backend coding in Java or Node.js.
• 5+ years of frontend coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• 5+ years of experience with Angular, React/Next.js.
• 5+ years using Agile methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of Python and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the digital twin and simulation stack (full stack).
• Mentor and onboard engineers; participate in architecture and design decisions.
• Align engineering with robotic teams to minimize gaps and maximize value and quality.
• Define software processes, QA/QC standards, and CI/CD processes.
• Drive implementation through collaboration across teams and architecture reviews.
