Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. in the United States is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to oversee complex projects, ensuring scope, budget, and timelines are met. You will coordinate with stakeholders, analysts, and vendor resources to deliver high-quality IT solutions for public-sector clients.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, with travel up to 10%. Strong communication and mentoring skills are essential for team leadership and successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of IT Project Management Best Practices and applies them to projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create project schedules and scope budgets for highly complex IT projects.
  • Expert knowledge in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of PMI standards and practices.
  • ITIL, Agile/Scrum knowledge is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Completes project(s) of various size with scope, schedule, and financial impact agreed with stakeholders.
  • Evaluates project status and identifies issues or risks.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and business analysts.
  • Tracks project scope, budget, deliverables, and timelines with detailed work plans.
  • Documents and maintains records of project plan changes/updates.
  • Monitors resources and day-to-day planning to ensure deliverables meet timelines.
  • Provides status updates and reporting to ensure appropriate staffing and vendor resources.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in project structures and technology.
  • Mentors more junior project managers and provides expertise for complex projects.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Description
  • Completes project(s) of various size that are of moderate to high complexity to scope, schedule, financial impact and deliverables agreed to by the project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Evaluates project status and identifies any issues or risks.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders, business analysts, etc.
  • to track project scope, budget, deliverables, timeline and detailed work plan, etc.
  • Documents and maintains records of project plan changes/updates.
  • Monitors project resources and day-to-day planning of operational aspects of the project to ensure that deliverable timelines are met.
  • Provides status updates and related reporting to ensure that projects are staffed with the appropriate Information Technology (IT) staff, stakeholders and vendor resources.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in hardware or software project’s structures and technology.
  • Mentors more junior project managers, and provides expertise in support of highly complex projects or program design, as needed.
  • Provides feedback to project team resource managers on more junior project team member’s performance during the project.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of related experience.

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

  • Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities and work deadlines.
  • Ability to create project schedules and scope budget of IT projects of a highly complex nature.

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of PMI (Project Management Institute) standards and practices.
  • Possesses moderate knowledge of ITIL, Agile/Scrum, etc. preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
