Position Overview

The position is an integral member of the Academic Resource (Technology) Team, designed to support faculty with digital pedagogy, emerging-tech literacy, and classroom technology. Additionally, the position helps support the day-to-day operation of the School’s technology systems and users, and facilitates digital literacy through Staculty (Faculty/Staff), small-group, and individual training. The Digital Pedagogy Specialist will also teach an AI Literacy course, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, and share enthusiasm for new technology within an educational setting, specifically in supporting diverse school constituents including students, faculty, staff, and parents.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Co-lead the Ed Tech Committee and contribute to Marlborough’s Academic Technology Plan
  • Develop and teach an AI Literacy course, ensuring the curriculum reflects emerging technologies, ethical considerations, and best practices in artificial intelligence
  • Partner with faculty across disciplines and grades to integrate digital literacy and AI competencies into classroom instruction, including visiting classrooms, building relationships with faculty, co-planning lessons, and stepping into classrooms as needed to provide direct instruction on digital literacy skills
  • Evaluate, guide, and integrate AI systems and tools in alignment with institutional values of intentional, safe, ethical, and developmentally-appropriate use
  • Promote thoughtful decision-making around when technology enhances learning and when analog approaches may be more appropriate
  • Serve as the Blackbaud LMS expert and create resources for faculty and students
  • In partnership with Dean of Faculty, coordinate technology portion of New Employee Orientation
  • Collaborate with faculty to connect technology choices to student learning, classroom practice, and sound instructional design
  • Coordinate with the Director of Technology and Division Heads to ensure that parent and student programming around digital education and social media use are met
  • Regularly lead workshops for faculty around digital learning, emerging tech, and classroom technology, during opening meetings and throughout the year as part of professional development days
  • Work with members of the ARC Team to support diverse user needs and to serve as a pedagogical resource for employees, students, and the Marlborough community
  • Stay current on new trends in technology, including the areas of artificial intelligence, digital literacy and safety, and teaching and learning in a digital age
  • Interface with vendors as needed to resolve issues and maintain relationships
  • Perform other departmental duties as required, including working throughout the summer to prepare for the upcoming school year
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Experience in and passion for working in an educational environment
  • Fluency in Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Blackbaud
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience teaching Middle or Upper School students, preferably in an independent school setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resourceful problem-solver with a proven record of maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment
  • Highly organized with the ability to work successfully either independently or in collaborative groups, and to work in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities/deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience working with constituents in person or virtually
Qualifications and Other Requirements
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree preferred, ideally in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related Information Technology (IT) field or specialization (professional certification may be considered as a substitute for degree requirement)
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the field of EdTech or related field
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed
