Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a Digital Pathology Coordinator to support the Department of Pathology’s digital slide scanning workflow. The role involves coordinating slide collection, metadata preparation, QA, and ensuring smooth operation of the Image Management System across multiple teams.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with experience in administrative or healthcare settings and comfort handling patient-related data.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree required.
Minimum of one year of work experience in administrative, healthcare or science-based field.
Experience with computer systems including web-based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

Collate slides from multiple areas of the department for slide scanning in a timely manner.
Coordinate activities with attending physicians/scientists, residents, and lab/administrative staff.
Perform pre-analytic review of slides for scanning (clean slides, verify tissue placement, quality of barcode).
Prepare metadata for slides scanned.
Load and unload slides into scanner using batch management schemes.
Perform QA of slide image quality and barcode labels to ensure interface integrity with Image Management System.
Rescan failed slides.
Review operation IDs (date/time stamps, audit trails).
Organize slides for return to designated area of the department/stakeholders.
Maintain organized spreadsheets and tables for workflow tracking.
Organize Image Management System according to established methods/design.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and liaise with vendor maintenance/service.
Monitor storage and purge archived files.
