Job summary

Matteson Area Public Library District is seeking a Digital Librarian to develop and implement emerging library technologies to support learning and research. You will administer the library’s online suite of reference services and tools.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science (ALA-accredited) or a computer-related equivalent, and demonstrates strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills. Evening and weekend work are required.

Job description

Matteson Area Public Library District has a full-time position open for a Digital Librarian. We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person who is able to develop and implement emerging library technologies in support of learning and research. Responsibilities include the administration of the library’s existing online suite of reference services and tools.

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university, or a computer-related equivalent preferred.Emphasis on digital collections, services, and systems, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the requirements of the position. Candidates must be highly organized and work both within a team and independently. Excellent oral and written skills and a superior customer service attitude are a must. Employment may be contingent upon a background check. Full-Time – Able to work evenings and weekends.
