Job summary

Frontgrade is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to guide digital hardware development from concept to production, including schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, and sustaining engineering. You will be the technical design authority on complex projects and mentor engineers across levels.

You will collaborate with software/firmware, manufacturing, and other engineers to ensure seamless hardware integration with FPGA and software, create detailed documentation, and optimize for performance,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8+ years in a hardware engineering discipline.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).
• Proficiency in schematic capture tools such as Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer.
• Experience with ARM/Intel-based microprocessors and FPGA design.
• Strong collaboration with embedded software/firmware and manufacturing teams.

Job description

• Lead digital hardware development from concept, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering.
• Act as the technical design authority for complex product development projects.

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. OR (12) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (6) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree. OR (3) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.

Preferred:

• Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors.
• Design with AMD And/Or Lattice FPGA’s
• Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer
• Experience with the design, constraint and integration of high-speed interfaces. (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).
• High current/low voltage switching power supply experience
• Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product verification and successful integration of hardware with FPGA and software functionality.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI
• Experience in Rad hard or high reliability design
