Job summary

Frontgrade Technologies seeks a Digital Engineer IV to lead mid-to-high complexity hardware design projects and drive successful integration with software and firmware teams. You will own design clarity, documentation, and cross‑functional execution in mission-critical environments.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent, with substantial hardware experience, FPGA/ASIC insights, and demonstrated mentoring and leadership in design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 12 years experience in lieu is required.
  • Eight+ years in a specialized discipline; alternatives with higher degrees exist.
  • Preferred FPGA/processor design experience and tool proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital hardware development from concept to production release.
  • Act as the technical design authority for complex product development.
  • Identify and resolve hardware issues during development and post-production.
  • Collaborate with software/firmware/manufacturing teams to integrate hardware and software.
  • Create detailed design and testing documentation.
  • Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Mentor engineers across multiple experience levels.

Job Description

The Digital Engineer IV leads moderate complexity design projects, defines basic concepts for engineering problems. They also lead internal and external technical moderate complexity projects, measure and adapt project scope, and implement action plans to improve project performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead digital hardware development from concept, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering.
  • Act as the technical design authority for complex product development projects.
  • Identify and resolve complex hardware issues during development and post-production.
  • Work with software teams, firmware teams, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to integrate hardware and software solutions.
  • Create detailed documentation for designs, testing procedures, and other relevant information.
  • Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Mentor engineers across multiple experience levels.
  • Lead Design Reviews
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. OR (12) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (6) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree. OR (3) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.
Preferred
  • Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors.
  • Design with AMD And/Or Lattice FPGA's
  • Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer
  • Experience with the design, constraint and integration of high-speed interfaces. (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).
  • High current/low voltage switching power supply experience
  • Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product verification and successful integration of hardware with FPGA and software functionality.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI
  • Experience in Rad hard or high reliability design
