Job summary

The City of New York’s Department of Investigation seeks a Technical Investigator to support investigative units with technical surveillance equipment and digital forensics. The role involves field deployments, maintaining devices, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

You will collaborate with LET staff, investigators, and prosecutors, and may testify in court. Some non-traditional hours may be required to meet mission goals.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with four years of investigative experience.
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and operational support to investigative units.
• Field deployments and maintenance of surveillance equipment.
• Assist with lawful electronic surveillance operations.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation on operations.
• Cross-train in digital forensic and cyber investigation techniques.
• Testify in court proceedings as needed.
