Job summary

The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) seeks a Technical Investigator to support Law Enforcement Technology (LET) TSU. You will deploy and maintain surveillance equipment, assist with lawful electronic surveillance, and prepare detailed reports for investigations.

You will collaborate with investigators and prosecutors, testify in court when needed, and may work non-traditional hours. A background check and residency requirement apply for NYC employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four years of satisfactory experience in investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, or related field.
• Preferred: degrees in forensic computing, CS, security, or related engineering fields; professional certifications and digital forensics experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and operational support to investigative units.
• Field deployments and maintenance of surveillance equipment; support lawful electronic surveillance per court orders.
• Troubleshoot and configure technical systems in field and controlled environments; prepare detailed reports and documentation.
• Maintain property and evidence room; cross-train in digital forensics and cyber investigations.
