Position Title: Digital Forensic Analyst

Salary Range: $72,000 - $75,000

Job Description:

The Cyber Crime Bureau (CCB) has an immediate opening for a Digital Forensic Analyst in its High-Tech Analysis Unit (HTAU). CCB is committed to protecting the public by combating sophisticated cybercrime schemes in Manhattan and worldwide. HTAU Analysts conduct digital forensic examinations of devices involved in criminal cases across the District Attorney's Office, including cases related to cryptocurrency, SIM-swapping, sex trafficking, robbery, and homicide. The Digital Forensic Analyst provides highly sophisticated technical forensic support for criminal investigations and prosecutions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare case files and chain of custody documentation; label evidence.
  • Log evidence into the case tracking system.
  • Analyze mobile electronic devices such as cellular phones, tablets, GPS devices, etc.
  • Disassemble, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware.
  • Prepare forensic images and organize case file images for archival.
  • Conduct forensic analyses and prepare detailed reports.
  • Testify about findings in court proceedings.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Forensic Computing, Computer Science, or Computer Security from an accredited college.
  • 2-3 years of experience in digital forensics or 2 years of graduate study in forensic computing.

Master's degree may substitute for experience.

Preferred Skills:
  • Certifications in forensic examination (please specify in your application).
  • Knowledge of forensic industry standards, chain of custody, methodologies, and evidence handling.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to workflow changes.
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy.
Additional Information:
