The Digital Designerwill provide expertise to the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) Department of Education (ED), Education Delivery Division (EDE), Academic Development Branch (EDED). USAFSAM/ED directs daily academic operations or USAFSAM and establishes student training policies. ED executes the student management and accounting for 4,000 students annually as well as the faculty development, instructor evaluation, and student evaluation programs. USAFSAM/EDED is responsible for the development and management of all course materials and curriculum development processes to include multimedia development.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the inventory and maintenance of audio visual/computer related equipment as directed by the Government representative
- Assist with the ordering, storing, coding/entering inventory into database, and disposing of all audio visual/computer related equipment as directed by the Government representative.
- Provide digital design consultation to USAFSAM members and programs as directed by the government representative.
- Assist subject-matter experts and/or an instructional designer to convey a specific message to a targeted audience through a visual medium by building quality graphics for marketing.
- Provide consultative support to subject-matter experts and/or instructional designers desiring to develop their own graphics/content
- Create, design and produce graphics and other multi-media content, as well as provide consultation to subject-matter experts and/or an instructional designer using traditional tools and equipment as well as specialty equipment and software in support of USAFSAM courseware and course materials.
- Create visually compelling digital assets for marketing, instructional, and promotional purposes (e.g., digital signage, email campaigns, websites, presentations)
- Work with copywriters, photographers, and videographers to align visual designs with messaging.
- Optimize layouts for attention, clarity, and communication effectiveness
- Adapt designs for multiple formats: web, mobile, print, signage, etc.
- Participate in and support other projects within skill sets; project may include writing continuity documents, attending or presenting at local eLearning symposiums, defining capabilities for potential customers, collaborating with local colleges or multi-service partners, and supporting other USAFSAM special projects.

Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Digital Media, Visual Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in digital design.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with Adobe programs including Premier Pro, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Captivate; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage projects independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work through problems quickly and independently.
- Knowledge of video editing or motion graphics for animated signage or marketing content.
- Ability to prepare assets for web and print, understanding resolution, file formats, and accessibility.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense branding and communication policies (ex. Tongue and Quill) preferred.
- Experience working in the military setting, understanding of rank structure, policies, and procedures preferred
- Experience designing for digital signage (understanding screen ratios, motion graphics, and optimal content duration).
- Knowledge of layout principles, color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
- Familiarity with web-based design tools.
