Job summary

Planet Depos in Newport News, VA is seeking a full-time Digital Court Reporter to capture deponent testimony via audio and video at depositions. You will set up equipment, ensure recording quality, and maintain logs of speakers and keywords.

Responsibilities include adjusting lighting and framing, troubleshooting A/V issues, and supporting clients both in-person and remotely with a professional, neutral demeanor.

Qualifications

• Some experience or knowledge of the legal industry.
• 2- or 4-year degree preferred and comfortable with A/V technologies and digital recording.
• Professional appearance and ability to interact with professional clients.
• Able to adapt to changing schedules and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up audio/video equipment quickly in various environments.
• Position and monitor microphone placement for optimal audio capture.
• Mix multiple audio tracks and monitor for interference on portable interfaces.
• Set white balance and exposure for proper videography.
• Establish video framing per legal norms and standards.
• Assist clients with audio/video issues in person and remotely.
• Track and log key events, spellings, exhibits, and objections.
• Swear in deponents and record testimony faithfully.
• Maintain a calm, neutral, professional demeanor before, during, and after proceedings.
