EngenderHealth is a global health non-profit organization with expertise in family planning, sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, gender equality, and gender-based violence prevention and response. JOB SUMMARY:
The Digital Content Strategist will assist the Senior Communications Manager in implementing a comprehensive digital communications strategy to enhance visibility, support philanthropic giving, and promote thought leadership and business development. This role will manage EngenderHealth’s website, email newsletter, and social media platforms, collaborating closely with the digital fundraising strategist and other departments to drive engagement through various channels, including web, social media, and email.
The strategist will lead content development, data analytics, SEO optimization, and performance tracking to ensure organizational visibility and engagement. They will oversee the creation and distribution of digital content, ensuring consistent brand messaging across platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Content Strategy Development, Creation, and Management
- Execute Digital Content Strategies: Collaborate with the Sr. Communications Manager to implement digital content strategies that support global communications efforts across departments.
- Content Creation and Dissemination: Identify digital content opportunities and lead the creation, editing, and publishing of engaging multimedia content for platforms including blogs, social media, email newsletters, and websites.
- Social Graphic and Video Creation: Design and produce high-quality digital graphics, infographics, animations, and videos for social media and organizational storytelling, ensuring content is visually engaging and consistent with brand guidelines.
- Email Marketing and Distribution: Support digital fundraising strategist on email marketing initiatives and manage content distribution via email newsletter using platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Social Media Strategy: Develop and manage social media campaigns across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram) using scheduling tools like Hootsuite, Loomly, or Sprout Social to drive engagement.
- Content Management: Oversee content management through CMS tools like WordPress, Drupal, or HubSpot, ensuring all content is optimized for various platforms and audiences.
Website Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management: Ensure the website’s content is updated regularly, accurate, and reflective of current organizational initiatives, campaigns, and events. Coordinate with programs, communications, and fundraising teams to align web content with organizational goals and messaging strategies.
- Implement Website Improvements and Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Identify areas for design, functionality, and structural improvements, collaborating with IT or external web developers as needed. Troubleshoot technical problems such as broken links, formatting errors, and server issues. Manage plugins, updates, and integrations to keep the website running efficiently and securely.
- Monitor Website Performance and Apply SEO Best Practices: Monitor website performance, including page load times, traffic, and user engagement, and implement SEO best practices to improve search rankings. Use analytics tools like Google Analytics to track website traffic and user behavior, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Enhance User Experience (UX): Apply UX principles to ensure content supports the user journey and is optimized for engagement. Implement accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to accommodate users with disabilities and optimize content for readability and searchability across platforms.
Data Analytics, Performance Tracking, and Content Optimization
- Monitor Performance and Analyze User Data: Use data analysis tools to track content performance and make data-driven adjustments.
- Implement A/B Testing and Optimize Based on Performance Metrics: Design and execute A/B tests to compare different content elements (e.g., headlines, CTAs, images) and identify what resonates with audiences. Adjust content strategies and formats (blogs, infographics, videos) based on test results to maximize engagement.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the following requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, global health, international development, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in content development and digital and/or social media strategy, as well as website development and management.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience in various content formats, including a diverse creative portfolio.
- Experience in project management, including leading content-related projects from concept to completion, managing timelines and budgets with tools like Asana, Planner, or Monday.com.
- Experience managing digital platforms and using CMS systems like WordPress, Drupal, or HubSpot.
- Expertise in social media strategy and management across multiple platforms.
- Experience in email marketing, using tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Proven ability to track and analyze content performance, making data-driven recommendations.
- Expertise in SEO, keyword research, and tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, or Moz. Familiarity with UX/UI principles and content optimization techniques.
- Experience in graphic design, with software like Adobe Creative Suite (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and video editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) to create compelling content.
- Willingness to stay current on industry trends, best practices, and algorithm changes and to adjust strategies based on performance and market shifts.

- Fluency in English (French is also highly desirable).
- Familiarity with international development, especially in sexual and reproductive health and gender equality, including a network within the sexual and reproductive health sector and/or with digital or traditional media outlets (bloggers, podcasts, etc).
- Experience in digital marketing, public relations, and social media.
- Strong creative portfolio showcasing graphic design, video, and other multimedia content.
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for minor code adjustments and ability to collaborate with developers on technical issues.

- Remote, Washington D.C preferred.
