Salary/Pay

Range: $55,954 - $65,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The Digital Content Strategist plays a key role in shaping and executing the digital content strategy for UCCS' flagship website, uccs.edu, and other supporting platforms and channels. In this position you will:

  • Monitor content performance metrics and use data to guide decision-making.

  • Develop audience-centered, digital-first content that enhances the user experience.

  • Support student enrollment goals through strategic content creation.

  • Ensure all content reflects and strengthens the institution's brand voice.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver engaging, high-value content.

  • Drive user engagement, conversion, and long-term audience growth.

  • Analyze web analytics and user insights to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Optimize content performance through continuous testing and refinement.

  • Translate data and user behavior trends into actionable strategic recommendations.

  • Contribute to marketing strategy as a key member of the marketing team.

  • Establish and maintain content governance standards and best practices.

  • Promote brand consistency across digital channels and content platforms.

  • Enhance the customer experience through effective content strategy and management.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision-making.

  • Support the goals and initiatives of the Marketing Director.

Position Term

This is a one-year full time position within University Communications & Marketing. The position is intended to provide digital content support for university marketing and communications priorities during the one year period. Continuation beyond the one-year is not guaranteed and would be subject to university needs, funding, and applicable hiring processes.

Essential Functions
40% Operations Management
  • Deep Digital Content Expertise: Extensive experience developing and executing content strategy, digital marketing initiatives, and higher education web content that align customer needs with business objectives and drive measurable engagement.

  • Strong Leadership & Operational Excellence: Proven ability to lead people, processes, and cross-functional projects while continuously improving workflows, establishing best practices, and managing complex content initiatives from strategy through execution.

  • Distributed Environment Experience: Demonstrated success working across teams and decentralized organizations, effectively navigating multiple stakeholders, priorities, and compliance requirements.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging web analytics, performance metrics, and customer insights to identify trends, optimize content strategies, improve user experience, and influence business outcomes.

  • Exceptional Communicator & Storyteller: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling customer-centric narratives, simplify complex concepts, engage diverse audiences, and clearly articulate business value. Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, Communications, or a related field required.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve digital content strategies that align with institutional goals, brand standards, customer needs, and student enrollment objectives.

  • Manage the full content lifecycle from ideation through implementation, ensuring consistency, accessibility, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and adherence to content governance standards.

  • Create, optimize, and maintain digital content across web and digital platforms to enhance user experience, increase engagement, drive traffic, and support lead generation and enrollment outcomes.

  • Analyze content performance using web analytics, SEO, AEO/GEO, and other digital marketing tools to evaluate effectiveness, identify opportunities, and implement data-informed improvements.

  • Establish and refine content management processes, workflows, and best practices that support operational efficiency, brand consistency, and long-term content sustainability.

  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices in digital marketing, content strategy, search optimization, and user experience to enhance content effectiveness and organizational outcomes.

35% Communication and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Enrollment Management, Web Services, UI/UX teams, Communications, Admissions, Institutional Data, and other campus stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment of content strategies.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop customer-centric content and digital experiences that support institutional priorities and business objectives.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor by translating analytics, customer insights, and performance metrics into actionable recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.

  • Develop compelling narratives and content that effectively communicate institutional value, engage diverse audiences, and strengthen the university's brand presence.

  • Facilitate communication among decentralized teams and stakeholders to ensure content initiatives are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals.

25% Administrative Tasks
  • Maintain content governance documentation, standards, procedures, and reporting processes to support compliance, consistency, and accountability across digital platforms.

  • Prepare and present content performance reports, recommendations, and strategic updates to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate project timelines, priorities, and deliverables for content-related initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within established guidelines.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), user engagement metrics, and enrollment-related outcomes to support strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of evolving digital content, marketing accessibility, and higher education industry standards.

Relocation and Visa Eligibility

Applicants should either reside in Colorado or be prepared to relocate within two months of starting employment. We’re excited to welcome new team members and will provide support and resources to help make your transition to Colorado as smooth as possible.
