Job summary

Barnes & Noble Education is seeking an E-Content Inventory Buyer to manage digital inventory purchasing and ensure accurate vendor communications. You will monitor purchase orders, resolve item discrepancies, and coordinate with database staff to keep inventory up to date.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and complete documentation.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications.
• Ability to learn and work effectively within purchasing, inventory, and database systems.
• Familiarity with MBS systems, warehouse operations, or database processes is helpful.
• Consistent reliability and ability to meet established performance expectations.

Responsibilities

• Purchase digital inventory from designated vendors and sources based on business needs.
• Monitor open purchase orders and daily reports, following up on outstanding items to support timely fulfillment.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve inventory availability, substitutions, title discrepancies, and other order-related issues.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation of quotes, orders, vendor communications, and issue resolution.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and assist with questions related to digital inventory and orders.
• Monitor the receipt of digital products and follow up on discrepancies or inventory concerns.
• Coordinate with Database staff to ensure necessary product and inventory updates are completed.
• Support the Call Center in resolving digital-content issues by reviewing order information and coordinating with vendors as needed.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to communicate updates and resolve purchasing and inventory issues.
• Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and follow-up activities to meet established deadlines.
• Additional responsibilities as required.
