Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a Digital Content Editor to join the Digital Content Team. You will manage website content, migrate microsites, build new pages, and ensure accessibility across the portfolio. Collaboration with service areas and stakeholders is essential.

The role focuses on writing, editing, proofreading, and maintaining high standards for public-facing information with strong attention to detail and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience using a content management system (CMS).
  • Understanding of accessibility issues around PDFs is useful.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 would be desirable.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading text for public-facing content.
  • Ability to liaise with departments across the council to capture and advise on web content.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver on time and to standard.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate content from microsites to the main website and publish updates.
  • Help build new microsites and ensure accessibility across the website portfolio.
  • Work on projects to improve customer experience and accessibility.
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with the Digital Content Team to deliver objectives.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Digital Content Editor to join our Digital Content Team. The team are responsible for keeping our website content up-to-date.

In this role, you will work with council services to keep website content up-to-date. You will also migrate content from existing microsites to the main website, help to build new microsites, and make documents accessible across the website portfolio. You will also work on specific projects to improve the customer experience and accessibility.

We are committed to making our digital assets accessible and usable for everyone. To achieve this level of compliance, we make sure the council's corporate website and microsites meet the latest accessibility and usability standards., Comes into the office for meetings or focused work. Virtual connections with the team are essential, with portable technology supporting work on the go.

You should have previous experience of using a content management system (CMS) and an understanding of the accessibility issues surrounding PDFs would be useful.

  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 would be desirable.
  • You must have experience of writing, editing and proof-reading text, ideally for publishing in the public domain. You must also have the confidence to liaise with departments across the council to capture and advise on web content.
  • You will be experienced working as part of a team to achieve a common goal, and also able to work on your own to achieve your own personal objectives.
  • You will have great attention to detail and be able to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required standard
