Job summary

Tennessee Department of State, Division of Tennessee State Library and Archives, seeks a Librarian/Archivist Assistant 1 to operate micrographics and imaging technologies, transferring records to microfilm and digital files. Responsibilities include handling fragile materials, performing quality control on images, keeping logs, and supporting general recordkeeping.

Requires high school diploma and basic computer skills; experience with cameras, scanners, and image processing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
• Demonstrated experience working with computers.
• Experience using digital cameras, image processing software, and/or scanners preferred

Responsibilities

• Operates imaging equipment, including rotary and planetary microfilm cameras, digital cameras, microfilm scanners, and digital archive writer.
• Operates related micrographics equipment, such as light meters and book cradles.
• Performs image capture to exacting standards for archival and library materials.
• Handles rare or fragile originals to prevent damage during imaging.
• Performs quality control checks and adjusts focus, lighting, and orientation as needed.
• Prepares daily work reports and logs of projects.
• Performs general record keeping and clerical duties.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
