Job summary

Allina Health in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Diet Technician to support pediatric nutrition. You will assist in the Nutrition Services department, screening and assessing patients, preparing infant formulas and enteral feedings, and documenting diet orders to ensure accurate meal service and patient care.

You will collaborate with dietitians, nurses, and families, maintaining quality assurance and helping with nutrition risk screening and calculations as part of the care team.

Qualifications

  • Requires CADE-accredited dietary education or progress toward degree.
  • 0-2 years of diet technician experience.
  • Preferred: 2-5 years in a diet office as a diet clerk.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the service of food and nutritional programs in Nutrition Services.
  • Provides screening and nutritional assessment for Children’s Hospital patients and works with patients, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure patients receive accurate meal service, infant formula and enteral nutrition.
  • Processes and maintains patient diet orders, menus, and related nutrition information/records.
  • Screens Children’s Hospital patients for nutrition risk.
  • Provides patient calorie count calculations.
  • Calculates and prepares infant formulas and assembles enteral/tube feedings.
  • Works with patients, nursing, and dietitians to resolve patient nutrition related issues.
  • Documents all necessary dietary and patient information accordingly.
  • Maintains a high level of patient satisfaction and quality assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Associate's or Vocational degree in Dietetics CADE
Two years towards a four-year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics

Job Summary

Key Position Details
  • Casual (0.0 FTE)
  • Less than 7-hour day/evening shifts; typically 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays
  • Occasional weekend rotation; shifts may be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • On-call shifts required on weekends and holidays, approximately 6 times per year
Job Description

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Vocational degree in Dietetics from a program accredited by Commission of Dietetics Education (CADE) or at least two years towards a four year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at an accredited college or university required
  • 0 to 2 years of diet technician experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 to 5 years in a diet office as a diet clerk
Physical Demands

Light Work: Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $22.64 to $30.14 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work. Allina Health is committed to adhering with all applicable local, state and federal minimum wage requirements.
