Job summary

Allina Health in New Ulm, MN is seeking a part-time Food Service worker to prepare meals for patients, staff and guests at an 8-hour day/evening shift. This role supports a .5 FTE and every-other-weekend rotation within a 20-hour weekly schedule.

Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, proper cooking techniques and food safety practices, along with possible duties in restocking, menu support and occasional cash register use.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Associate's or Vocational degree in the culinary field is preferred.

Key Position Details:

.5 FTE (40 hours per two-week pay period) 8-hour day/evening shift Every other weekend rotation

Job Description:

Responsible for the preparation of all food served to patients, staff and customers. Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.

Principle Responsibilities

• Prepares food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner.
• Prepares food using standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions.
• Adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes.
• Understands special diets and consults with dietitian as needed.
• Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
• Checks temperatures regularly prior to serving food.
• Labels, dates, covers and store food properly.
• Utilizes sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment.
• May assist in restocking work station.
• May assist in putting away grocery orders.
• May operate cash register.
• May assist with menu development.
• May maintain adequate food stock to meet the menu requirements and patient requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Associate's or Vocational degree in the culinary field
• 0 to 2 years of food service experience

Licenses/Certifications

• Certification for Food Safety and Handling preferred upon hire

Physical Demands

Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.49 to $25.19 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work. Allina Health is committed to adhering with all applicable local, state and federal minimum wage requirements.
