Essex Health and Rehabilitation in Tappahannock, VA, is seeking a Dietary Services Manager to lead the dietary department. You will supervise staff, plan nutritious menus with the Dietitian, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality dining experiences for residents.

You will collaborate with nursing and dietary professionals to meet nutritional needs, manage budgets, and drive improvements in service quality and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Approval of an Food Management Course completed.
• Experience in food service management in healthcare or senior living.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary regulations.
• Understanding of therapeutic diets and nutrition.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team-building abilities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire dietary team members through recruitment, training, supervision, and support.
• Oversee meal preparation, presentation, and service to ensure nutritious, high-quality meals.
• Plan menus in collaboration with the Consultant Dietitian to meet resident needs and therapeutic diets.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for dietary operations.
• Manage food purchasing, inventory, staffing schedules, and departmental budgets.
• Support resident-centered care by coordinating with nursing and dietary staff.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, temperature, presentation, and cleanliness.
• Maintain proper purchasing, expenses, inventory, and staffing records.
• Conduct staff training, in-service education, and performance evaluations.
• Identify opportunities to improve dining services and resident satisfaction.
• Assist with special events and resident activities in the dietary department.
