Job summary

Magnolia Creek Assisted Living is seeking an experienced Dietary Manager to oversee culinary operations, lead the dietary team, and enhance the resident dining experience.

You will plan menus with clinical input, ensure meals meet dietary requirements and health regulations, and manage inventory, budgeting, and quality assurance.

Qualifications include a CDM or eligibility, a bachelor’s degree in food service management or nutrition, and 2+ years of healthcare food service leadership.

• CDM certification or eligibility required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day food service operations, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, are of high quality, and comply with health regulations.
• Lead and supervise the dietary team, including cooks, aides, and nutrition staff; provide training and performance management.
• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences; respond to dietary requests and concerns.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to plan menus that adhere to nutrition guidelines while accommodating special diets.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain safe food handling practices.
• Manage food inventory and budgeting to meet cost controls while ensuring quality service.
• Promote a safe, sanitary kitchen environment and maintain cleanliness throughout prep and dining areas.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to monitor meal quality relative to residents' health needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day food service operations, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, are of high quality, and are prepared in compliance with health regulations.
• Team Development: Lead and supervise the dietary team, including cooks, aides, and nutrition staff. Provide training, mentorship, and performance management to maintain a high standard of food preparation and service.
• Resident Engagement: Ensure meals meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents. Respond to dietary requests and concerns, fostering a positive dining experience.
• Menu Planning: Collaborate with clinical teams to plan menus that adhere to nutrition and dietary guidelines while accommodating individual resident needs, including special diets.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all food service operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain safe food handling practices and conduct regular kitchen inspections.
• Inventory & Budgeting: Manage food inventory and ordering. Maintain cost control practices to meet budgetary guidelines while ensuring quality service.
• Health & Safety: Promote a safe, sanitary kitchen environment. Ensure proper storage and handling of food, maintaining cleanliness throughout food prep and dining areas.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with clinical teams to monitor and ensure the quality of the meals served aligns with residents' health needs and preferences.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in food service management, nutrition, or a related field (preferred)
• Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or eligibility for certification (required)
• 2+ years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment
• Strong knowledge of nutrition standards, food safety regulations, and dietary requirements
• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
