Job summary

Loyalhanna Senior Suites in Latrobe, PA seeks a Dietary Manager to lead the dietary department, develop a high-quality dining program, and mentor a team of dietary staff.

Responsibilities

The Dietary Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the dietary department, including:

• Lead, supervise, schedule, train, and support dietary staff.
• Oversee daily meal preparation and dining services.
• Maintain consistent standards for food quality, taste, temperature, appearance, and portioning.
• Plan and coordinate menus in accordance with resident needs and preferences.
• Work with residents and staff to identify food preferences and opportunities to improve the dining experience.
• Coordinate special meals, holidays, resident events, and other dining programs.
• Order food, supplies, and equipment while appropriately managing inventory and controlling waste.
• Monitor staffing and department expenses.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, rotation, and sanitation practices.
• Ensure the kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, storage areas, and dining areas are clean, organized, and maintained appropriately.
• Maintain required dietary documentation, records, logs, and department systems.
• Follow applicable food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Ensure dietary operations comply with applicable Pennsylvania Personal Care Home requirements, facility policies, and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Participate in inspections, surveys, quality improvement activities, and corrective action when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with the Administrator, Wellness Department, and other department leaders.
• Address resident and family concerns related to dining services promptly and professionally.
• Assist with food preparation and meal service when necessary.
• Develop and maintain a positive, accountable, resident-focused dietary team.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous food service leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience in senior living, personal care, assisted living, healthcare, institutional food service, hospitality, or a similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Experience with staff scheduling, inventory, food ordering, and department organization.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• The ability to train employees, establish expectations, and hold team members accountable.
• The ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, and leadership.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• A genuine interest in providing an excellent dining experience for older adults.
• ServSafe certification or other applicable food safety certification preferred, or willingness to obtain required certification.
