Position Summary

The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The Dietary Manager actively prepares meals and manages the operations of the Dining Services Department, including staffing, food ordering, menu planning, food delivery, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management, and helps maintain a positive environment for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Supervise, assign duties, and direct all food service department employees, maintaining full accountability for dining services.
  2. Ensure equipment maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation compliance. Manage food costs and inventory control.
  3. Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  4. Interview, recommend hires, and orient new staff.
  5. Create and adjust staff schedules, considering employee requests and operational needs.
  6. Track attendance and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
  7. Enforce policies related to employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and other HR policies, including disciplinary measures.
  8. Evaluate employee performance and recommend employment adjustments.
  9. Conduct quarterly dietary QA audits.
  10. Plan menus in coordination with healthcare providers and staff, including special events.
  11. Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, are nutritious and appealing, and are presented attractively. Manage safe food storage and handling.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to residents and staff.
  13. Perform duties courteously and professionally, prioritizing resident safety and satisfaction.
  14. Greet visitors warmly and handle inquiries appropriately.
  15. Ensure compliance with residents’ rights and regulations.
  16. Ensure staff attend required training and provide in-service training as needed.
  17. Attend training sessions as directed by supervisors.
