Job summary

Midwest Health in Oklahoma City is seeking a dedicated Cook to support our community dining program. You will prepare meals per planned menus, ensure proper portion control, and maintain sanitary standards in a fast-paced healthcare kitchen.

This role requires compliance with safety policies, respectful interaction with residents, and collaboration with dietary staff to accommodate special diets. On-site position with regular hours and opportunities to contribute to resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to report to work on time and as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Comply with personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
• Report abuse/neglect to the Executive Director, RCC or Charge Nurse on Duty.
• Treat residents, families, visitors, and staff with respect and dignity.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.
• Report occupational exposures to body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
• Ensure staff compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Follow Dietary Manager schedule and review menus prior to preparation.
• Inspect diet trays to ensure correct diets for residents.
• Prepare meals per planned menus and standardized recipes.
• Serve meals with proper portions and appeasing presentation.
• Assist in establishing production lines and preparing meals on time.
• Process diet changes from Nursing Services and accommodate special diets.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets and special orders.
• Ensure sanitary regulations and established policies are followed.
• Maintain a clean and safe department; manage equipment and supplies.
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Food Services.
• Handle substitutions only as authorized; verify labels and safety data sheets.
• Report hazardous conditions, accidents, and incidents; file reports as directed.
