Job summary

Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking a dependable Dietary Cook for Part-Time hours. You will prepare nutritious meals meeting residents' dietary needs and work closely with the dietary team to ensure safe, timely, and appealing service.

The role emphasizes following food safety practices, accommodating therapeutic diets, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen while supporting residents’ daily dining experience.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, institutional food service, or similar setting preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure meals meet residents' nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets.
• Prepare and modify meals to accommodate special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified diets.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection control, and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and comply with food safety standards.
• Assist with inventory and communicate food and supply needs to dietary leadership.
• Support meal service and ensure proper portion sizes and presentation.
• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the care team.
• Help ensure residents receive meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared according to their individual needs.

Position Details

• Location: Mission Valley Post Acute
• Pay Rate: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
• Schedule: Part Time

About the Role

As a Dietary Cook, you will play an important role in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet our residents' individual dietary needs. You'll work closely with the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared safely, served on time, and provide a positive dining experience for our residents.
