Job summary

Preferred Care Management in Wheaton, MD is hiring a Cook to prepare meals in accordance with policies and regulations, under supervision of the Director of Culinary Services. This in-person, full-time role entails following recipes, ensuring sanitary standards, and coordinating with other departments to meet residents' dietary needs.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions; perform tasks per policies and procedures.
• Possess ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus and standardized recipes.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Assist in serving of meals to ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets per planned menus.
• Follow sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean dietary department and proper storage areas.
• Assist with inventory and requisition of food and supplies as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
• Knock before entering a resident's room and coordinate with other departments as required.
• Attend workshops and in-service trainings as directed.
