Job summary

Valley Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center Inc. in Fairmont, WV seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support the Kitchen Manager with meal preparation, cooking, serving, and ensuring proper food handling and sanitation standards. This is not a direct client-care position.

You will help keep the kitchen clean, organized, and efficient, and ensure accurate temperatures for all foods. A minimum of 1 year in food service, a high school diploma, and basic English literacy are required.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the food service industry.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment such as commercial mixer, ovens, deep fryer, and grills.
• Ability to work in a high-paced or stressful environment.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks menu items to ensure high quality food.
• Keeps kitchen and work area clean, organized, and running efficiently.
• Utilize proper food handling, sanitation, and food storage procedures.
• Tasting, serving, and presenting final dishes.
• Taking, recording, and maintaining food temperatures on all cold and hot food prepared.
• Report faulty equipment to Manager ASAP to ensure safety of yourself and other employees.
• Follow all agency policies and procedures.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certificate or ability to be trained.
• OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
