Job summary

Vancrest of Urbana, Inc. is seeking a Dietary Cook to support high-quality dining for residents. The role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals according to dietary requirements, and coordinating with the Dietician and supervisors to implement changes.

Responsibilities include ensuring meal timing, following policies, handling dishwashing, and assisting with inventory and reporting. This is a full-time on-site position at the facility, with supervision by the Dietary Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in basic food preparation in a commercial setting.
• Ability to review menus before cooking.
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and patient nutrition needs.
• Ability to assist with inventory and ordering processes.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
• Submitting necessary forms and reports to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinating dietary service with other departments as needed.
• Working with the facility's Dietician and Supervisors on changes.
• Ensuring dietary procedures follow established policies.
• Assisting in establishing food service production lines to meet meal times.
• Processing diet changes from Nursing Services as approved.
• Dishwashing and cleaning to ensure utensils are ready for the next meal.
• Inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies.
• Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager.

Pay starts at $15-16/hr depending on experience and is determined by the hiring manager during an interview.

Dietary Cook

Dining is an important part of life and at Vancrest, we strive to provide the highest possible quality dining experience while ensuring the most nutritional diet possible for each resident.

Cook Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspecting special diet trays to assure they are correct.
• Performing administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Food Services.
• Coordinating dietary service with other departments as necessary.
• Working with the facility's Dietician, Dietetic Technician and other Supervisors as necessary and implementing recommended changes as required.
• Assuring that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assisting in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
• Processing diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services and approved by the Director of Food Service.
• Performing dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
• Assisting in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, and other duties as requested
• Cooks are supervised by the Dietary Manager
