Job summary

Brunswick Pointe Transitional Care is seeking a dependable Cook to join our Dietary Team. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents and help maintain a sanitary, safe kitchen environment to support excellent resident satisfaction.

You’ll follow approved menus and therapeutic diets, ensure proper portions and temperatures, and work closely with the Dietary Manager to meet deadlines and service times. Prior healthcare cooking experience is preferred, with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in healthcare or long-term care settings.
• Culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is preferred.
• Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must complete all required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diets.
• Ensure meals are attractive, properly portioned, and served at correct temperatures.
• Follow all federal, state, and facility food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
• Properly operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Minimize food waste through proper preparation and storage techniques.
• Meet scheduled meal service times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
• Work with the Dietary Manager and dietary team to ensure resident satisfaction.
• Follow infection prevention and confidentiality requirements.
• Assist with inventory, storage, stocking, and rotation of supplies using FIFO.
• Participate in in-service training and continuing education.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
