Job summary

DeCoach Recovery Centre is seeking a Dietary Cook for the Dayton location (11:00am-7:30pm). You will prepare meals that align with dietary guidelines, deliver to housing locations, and support catering events.

The role requires safety-first preparation, attention to allergies, and collaboration with dietary staff. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, cooking experience in healthcare or hospitality, knowledge of special diets, and strong knife skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Cooking experience in healthcare, hospitality, or similar setting preferred.
• Working knowledge of special diets (low sodium, diabetic, etc.).
• Strong culinary and knife skills.
• Excellent time management and organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menu and dietary guidelines.
• Adapt recipes to accommodate allergies, restrictions, and individual preferences.
• Deliver meals to local DeCoach housing locations.
• Support monthly catering events.
• Follow proper food handling and storage protocols.
• Keep kitchen, appliances, and equipment clean and organized.
• Meet health department standards and facility policy.
• Collaborate with the dietary manager on menu planning and updates.
• Manage portion control and reduce food waste.
• Track food supplies and flag replenishment needs.
• Ensure ingredients are fresh and high quality.
• Coordinate with dietary aides for smooth service.
• Communicate with nursing staff and dietitians on resident-specific dietary needs.

We're looking for a Dietary Cook for our Dayton location who takes pride in preparing meals that nourish both body and spirit.

What You'll Do

Meal Preparation & Cooking

• Prepare and cook meals according to menu and dietary guidelines
• Adapt recipes to accommodate allergies, restrictions, and individual preferences

Meal Delivery & Catering

• Deliver meals to local DeCoach housing locations
• Support monthly catering events

Food Safety & Sanitation

• Follow proper food handling and storage protocols
• Keep kitchen, appliances, and equipment clean and organized
• Meet health department standards and facility policy

Menu Management

• Collaborate with the dietary manager on menu planning and updates
• Manage portion control and reduce food waste

Inventory & Supplies

What You Bring

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
