Job summary

Legacy Health & Rehabilitation in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Dietary Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents, following physician orders and approved menus.

You will maintain high food safety standards, portion meals, monitor temperatures, and collaborate with the dietary team to create a positive dining experience for residents.

Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Previous cooking experience is preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements
• Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and food safety standards
• Review production sheets and resident diet orders to ensure accuracy
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
• Monitor food temperatures and follow all state, federal, and facility food safety regulations
• Assist with meal service as needed and work collaboratively with the dietary team
• Follow all infection prevention, sanitation, Universal Precautions, and workplace safety procedures

Position: Dietary Cook

As a Dietary Cook, you'll play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with physician-ordered diets and established food safety standards. You'll help create a positive dining experience while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.

Qualifications
