Job summary

Scott Lake Health and Rehabilitation in Lakeland, FL, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, is hiring a Dietary Cook to prepare meals for residents in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards. You will work with the dietary team to ensure meals meet nutrition needs and maintain kitchen cleanliness.

Minimum one year of related experience required; knowledge of health rules; dependable and team oriented.

• Previous cooking experience in skilled nursing or healthcare.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations and dietary recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of food preparation, sanitation, storage and portion control.
• Determine food and supplies needed for daily menus and obtain them in time for production.
• Plan production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve quality, temperature and appearance.

Dietary Cook Job Summary:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and providing food services to residents in a cost-efficient manner to safely meet residents’ need in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

Dietary Cook Major Duties and Critical Tasks:

• Prepare and serve meals for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations and within physician’s/nutritionists’ dietary recommendations
• Maintain high standard of food preparation, sanitation, storage, and portion control
• Determine food and supplies needed for daily menus; obtain supplies in time for adequate production
• Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved
• Assist in scheduled cleaning duties following established sanitary standards

Dietary Cook Other Duties:

• Participates and assists in departmental studies and projects as assigned or as may become necessary.
• Represents the facility at and participates in meetings as required
• Assists in standardizing work methods.
• As the job description may not be all-inclusive, the employee is expected to perform other essential functions and duties as assigned.

Dietary Cook:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years old
• Knowledge of Department of Health Rules and Regulations
• At Least 1 Year Experience in a Related Position Required
