Job summary

Clairidge House Nursing Home is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare meals and snacks per the facility menu for residents. The Cook works under the Dietary Manager and may supervise non-supervisory staff in the manager's absence.

Ideal candidates may have nursing home kitchen experience or related institutional food service experience, with a focus on teamwork, patience, and positive resident interactions.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in institutional food service preferred but not required.
• One-year institutional food service experience as a cook preferred.
• Must be a team player with patience and a cheerful disposition.
• Willingness to handle difficult residents and communicate with supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and snacks per the facility menu for residents.
• Coordinate and evaluate non-supervisory staff in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Ensure safety, sanitation and kitchen cleanliness in compliance with policies.
• Contribute to teamwork and maintain a supportive environment for residents.

Clairidge House Nursing Home is recruiting a Cook. Nursing Home experience preferred but not required.

The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and prepares meals and snacks per the facility menu for facility residents.

The Dietary Cook's primary duties include preparing and cooking family style meals for residents of skilled nursing facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of non-supervisory employees in the absence of the Dietary Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
• One-year institutional food service experience as a cook preferred.
• Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition to supervisor or nurse.
