Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission seeks a PRN Diet Clerk to update patient menus to reflect diet orders, discharges and transfers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role supports Nutrition Services with inventory, data entry, and communication of dietary consults. Requires English literacy; bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diet-related education is preferred.
• Numerous job duties require understanding of regular and therapeutic diets.
• Ability to operate common software and hardware as part of daily tasks.
• Reading, writing and speaking conversational English is required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Update patient menus reflecting diet orders, discharges, and transfers, maintaining accuracy.
• Maintain stock of patient menus and office supplies to support service delivery.
• Perform data entry and computer-based tasks with precision while taking patient menu selections and resolving inquiries.
• Apply knowledge of regular and therapeutic diets to support accurate menu planning.
• Communicate dietary consults, referrals, and other critical information to the Nutrition Services Team.

Job Description

• Update patient menus consistently to reflect changes in diet orders, discharges, and transfers, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain sufficient stock of patient menus and office supplies to support uninterrupted and efficient service delivery.
• Perform data entry and computer-based tasks with precision while taking patient menu selections and resolving inquiries from patients, nurses, and physicians. Other duties as assigned.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of regular and therapeutic diets to support accurate menu planning and patient nutrition care.
• Communicate dietary consults, referrals, and other critical information promptly to the Nutrition Services Team to ensure coordinated care.

• Ability to explain nutrition related queries and have sound understanding of all the related terms. [Required]
• Ability to use common software applications and hardware (e.g., iPad, Toughbook) [Required]
• Ability to complete multiple detail-oriented task/responsibilities in time sensitive environment. [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English and understand food service terms. [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 2+ customer service experience [Required]
• Previous call center or diet office experience [Preferred]
• Previous Healthcare foodservice experience [Preferred]
