Dietary Associate (Food Service) - Pontiac

Join to apply for the Dietary Associate (Food Service) - Pontiac role at PACE Southeast Michigan.

The dietary associate at PACE Southeast Michigan performs routine functions in the dietary department, including food preparation, food service, cleaning, and other duties assigned under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Assist in food preparation and serve meals, snacks, beverages, and nutrition supplements, adhering to portion control and sanitation practices.
  2. Prepare meals according to diet orders and ensure timely serving of appropriate meals to participants.
  3. Wash, sanitize, and store dishes and adaptive feeding equipment.
  4. Assist in receiving, storing, and labeling food and supplies properly.
  5. Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions.
  6. Follow fire safety, infection control, and hazardous chemical handling protocols.
  7. Adhere to federal, state, and departmental policies and procedures.
  8. Perform cleaning duties as scheduled, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  9. Take daily attendance and prepare tray tickets.
  10. Participate in training sessions, in-services, and staff meetings.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Registered Dietitian and Center Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification (ANSI) required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Experience in long-term care or hospital food service preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Outlook and MS Word) required.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet parameters.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  • Respect for participants and colleagues.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Medically cleared for communicable diseases; immunizations up-to-date.
  • Meet CMS-accepted competencies before working independently.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, carry 25 pounds, and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Fluency in English (reading and speaking).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
