RWJBarnabas Health's Community Medical Center is seeking a Diet Assistant to support dietary-management operations. The role includes collecting patient menus, distributing meals, and ensuring patient selections are met while adhering to regulatory requirements.

The position is per diem and hourly, with a salary range of $17.30–$19.25 per hour in New Jersey. A high school diploma is required, with preferred dietetic assistant training and food service experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone, take messages, and relay information with proper etiquette.
• Assist patients with menus and ensure they receive their chosen meals.
• Conduct point-of-service on assigned floors promptly.
• Follow posted schedules and attendance policy.
• Correct modified menus at patient bedside with patient consent when possible.
• Identify patients' educational needs.
• Maintain inventory of menus and supplies.
• Monitor the effects of dietary service through meal rounds.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teaching.
• Prepare production reports and route to appropriate area.
• Process requisitions from computer according to procedure.
• Provide basic diet information to patients on diets.
