Job summary

Horizons Care Center, a part of Volunteers of America National Services, is seeking a Dietary Assistant to provide quality food service for residents in a healthcare setting.

The role focuses on meeting nutritional needs, following state and federal regulations, and supporting a compassionate, team-oriented environment on a 25-hour weekly schedule with two possible shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments and diet orders.
• Numerical ability for recipe measurement and ingredient quantities.
• Coordination and dexterity to operate dietary equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defined food preparation, serving meals, and cleaning per procedures.
• Follow directions from the Director/Management on duties and special assignments.

Pay Range: $17.40 - $19.65 per hour based on experience. Schedule: Days will vary, shift times are 6am-2:30pm or 11:30am-7:30pm, 25 hours per week

What You Bring (Requirements)

• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
• Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.

What You'll Be Responsible For

The Dietary Assistant role is to provide quality food service in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and to meet the nutritional and individual needs of the residents.

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
