Job summary

The Homestead at Montrose, part of Volunteers of America National Services, seeks a compassionate Dietary Assistant in Montrose, CO to assist with meal preparation, service, and kitchen sanitation on a two-week rotating schedule.

This role provides a healthcare-focused work environment with benefits, paid time off, and opportunities for growth. The pay range is competitive for the area, reflecting experience and the responsibilities involved.

Qualifications

• Friendly and able to work with the elderly.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, recipe directions and diet orders.
• Numerical ability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defined food preparation, serving meals and cleaning per procedures.
• Follow procedures for all duties directed by the Director of Dietary or Cook.
• Attend required in-services and complete online modules.
• Report resident concerns, supply and equipment needs, and any equipment issues.

Pay Range: $17.40 - $19.65 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: 2-week rotating schedule Friday, Monday, Tuesday then Friday, Saturday, Sunday 11:30am-6:30pm. 45.5 hours per pay period.

What You Bring (Requirements)

• Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
• Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Dietary, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Understands and follows procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Dietary, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Attends required in-services and completes assigned online modules.
• Follows reporting procedures for the following:
• Observed resident concerns.
• Supply and equipment needs.
• Damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment.
• Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
