Job Overview

Duties
  • Assist with food preparation, including assembling, portioning, and serving meals in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all workplace safety protocols and sanitation procedures
  • Support the dietary team by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and maintaining cleanliness of food service areas to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques, manual handling, and safe lifting practices for heavy items
  • Work closely with nursing staff to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions for residents with specific health conditions or nutritional plans
  • Ensure timely delivery of meals to residents, managing time effectively to meet scheduled meal times
  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory, sanitation logs, and meal service documentation
Requirements
  • Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and sanitation practices aligned with food safety standards.
  • Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and basic math skills for portioning and inventory management
  • Strong understanding of adhering to dietary requirements and working with geriatric patients’ nutritional needs
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting while following safe lifting practices
  • Excellent time management skills to coordinate meal service efficiently within busy environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, sanitation, and customer service excellence
