Responsibilities

  • Follow prescribed dietary guidelines including special diets for residents.
  • Assist with meal delivery, bussing tables, and dining area cleaning to maintain a welcoming environment.

As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting the overall well-being of residents. Duties
  • Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals according to dietary requirements and safety standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to sanitation and food safety protocols.
  • Support the dietary department by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of food preparation areas.
  • Handle food with proper hygiene practices, including safe food handling and manual handling techniques.
  • Assist with meal delivery, bussing tables, and cleaning dining areas to ensure a welcoming environment for residents.
  • Follow prescribed dietary guidelines for residents, including special diets such as low sodium or diabetic menus.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately to maintain workplace safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and dietary team members to meet residents’ nutritional needs effectively.
Experience
  • Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or related healthcare environments preferred.
  • Food service experience within the food industry or culinary settings is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with food production, meal preparation, and serving techniques in a healthcare or geriatric setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards such as JCAHO regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing multiple tasks efficiently through strong time management skills.
  • Understanding of dietary requirements specific to elderly populations and ability to adhere to prescribed nutritional plans.
  • Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management; CPR certification is an asset but not mandatory.
