Job summary

Fountain Valley Post Acute is seeking a Dietary Aide to support daily kitchen operations in a long-term care setting. You will learn the food service routine quickly, set up meal trays, assist with serving meals, and help maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.

This role requires reading procedures and following recipes, basic math for measurements, and teamwork with the dietary supervisor and Cook. A food handlers’ certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Set up meal trays.
• Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
• Assist with serving the different meals.
• Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of shift.
• Operate dishwasher.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Sweep and mop kitchen.
• Carry out trash and garbage.
• Leave the kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner and assist when called upon by the cook or dietary supervisor.
• Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Collaborate with personnel in all departments.
