Job summary

Antelope Valley Care Center is seeking a full-time Dietary Aide to support daily food service operations in the kitchen. You will learn routines quickly, set up meal trays, assist with serving meals, and help maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.

The role requires reading procedures, following recipes, and applying basic math for portions and fractions. A food handlers’ certificate is required, and the position involves standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and teamwork with dietary staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must obtain and maintain food handlers’ certificate.

Responsibilities

• Set up meal trays.
• Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
• Assist with serving the different meals.
• Check chlorine concentration and water temperature of dishwashing machine at shift start.
• Observe dishwasher water temperatures during cycles.
• Operate dishwasher.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Sweep and mop kitchen.
• Carry groceries away in a safe, orderly and clean manner.
• Leave the kitchen clean and sanitary; assist cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
• Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Cooperate with personnel in all departments.
