Job summary

North Big Horn Hospital District is seeking a dietary aide to assist in all food functions in line with established policies and procedures. The role includes meal service, basic sanitation, safety compliance, and support for the Dietitian/Director of Food Services.

The position requires teamwork, English proficiency, and adherence to confidentiality and safety standards to protect residents. The work location is hospital-based with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Must be 18 years old to be considered for Cook position.
• Current food handler permit.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must be a supportive team member and contribute to team work.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.

Responsibilities

• Serves meals in accordance to established portion control procedures.
• Serves meals that are appetizing and palatable in appearance.
• Serves meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
• Assists in daily cleaning duties including work tables, meat blocks, and refrigerators/freezers per policies.
• Sweep and mop floors as directed.
• Washes and cleans utensils, dishes and cooking items per policies.
• Carries out garbage and keeps the work area clean, dry and free of hazards.
• Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
• Collects and distributes menus as instructed.
• Assists in checking dietary trays before distribution and delivering food carts to designated areas.
• Removes food carts, food trays from dining rooms to dishwashing area for cleaning.
• Treats all residents with dignity and respect; promotes residents’ rights.
• Follows safety and hygiene measures to protect residents and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.
• Reports noncompliance to HR/compliance officer.
• Reports allegations of abuse/neglect to supervisor/administrator.
• Reports occupational exposures as required.
• Participates in life safety and emergency drills; supports emergency plan.
• Reports injuries and illnesses to supervisor.
• Follows infection control policies.
• Completes assigned training and skills competency.
• Maintains clean and properly arranged food storage areas.
• Ensures equipment and supplies are clean and maintained.
• Assists in inventorying/storing incoming food and supplies.
• Ensures food and supplies for next meal are ready.
