Job summary

Cal Block, LLC in Rolling Meadows, IL seeks a Dietary Aide to perform designated work and cleaning routines in the Dietary Department under the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide reports to the Cook.

The role supports meal preparation, service of meals, tray cards and dining room setup, while following facility policies, HIPAA and infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; prior institutional dietary service experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipes and proper measuring of cleaning agents; good manual dexterity required.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including emergencies; patient with staff, residents, and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and dietary policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts and serving meals.
• Set up the dining room and serve the residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Report supplies and equipment needs per established procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions or needed repairs to ensure safety.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understand and follow the facility’s fire and disaster plans; act during drills and emergencies.
• Follow the facility Infection Control policy.
• Maintain highest standards of sanitation and safe work environment.
