Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Dietary Aide to join our team. The role involves preparing and serving meals to patients, staff, and visitors, while keeping food service areas clean and compliant with health standards.

You will help maintain logs, coordinate with the Dietitian, assist with daily operations, and support hospital dining services. Applicants should have a Food Handler certification in Texas, at least 6 months in healthcare food prep, and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Apportions and serves food to patients, employees, or patrons.
• Cleans and inspects equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas.
• Maintains kitchen and dining area logs accurately and timely.
• Performs serving, cleaning, and stocking duties for customer service.
• Prepares kitchen area for health inspections and follows regulations.
• Maintains cleanliness of checkout areas and cleans floors as needed.
• Maintains adequate supplies of silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays.
• Washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipment.
• Assists in daily cash handling and deposits as needed.
• Estimates daily and weekly needs; records meals served and inventories.
• Provides efficient, friendly cafeteria service.
• Preps menu items with input from the Dietitian.
• Prepares kitchen and cafeteria for next day service.
• Coordinates quality checks of food and temperature with the Dietitian.
• Performs other related duties to support the hospital.

Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Full-Time Dietary Aide to join our team!

SUMMARY

The Dietary Aide role will be responsible for preparing and serving food items to patients, staff, and visitors as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, ensuring health and safety standards are respected, and solving customer inquiries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Apportions and serves food to patients, employees, or patrons
• Cleans and inspects equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
• Maintains kitchen and dining area logs of such areas accurately and timely
• Performs serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in order to facilitate customer service
• Prepares kitchen area for health inspections; ensures all regulatory and health department rules are followed at all times
• Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas and completes other general cleaning duties such as mopping floorings and emptying trash cans
• Maintains adequate supplies of items such as, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
• Washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment
• Assists in daily cash handling and daily deposit transactions as needed
• Estimates daily and weekly needs and keeps daily record of meals served and takes inventory of supplies and equipment
• Provides services to cafeteria consumers in an efficient and friendly manner
• Preps menu items using established policies and procedures with input from the Dietitian
• Prepares kitchen and cafeteria for next day service
• Coordinates and participates with regularly scheduled quality checks of the food quality, temperature checks in collaboration with the Dietitian
• Performs other related duties as assigned to support the hospital

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Competent and conscientious with a customer - oriented approach
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines
• Understanding of dietary restrictions and ability to accommodate special dietary needs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Current and unencumbered Food Handler certification in the State of Texas
• Six (6) months of food preparation in a healthcare setting and knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements for serving food to patients and visitors
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
