Position Summary:

In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Dietary Aide is responsible for providing superior customer service to Residents and employees. The Dietary Aide will help to ensure that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner by assisting in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. The Dietary Aide will assist in the preparation of food to ensure the quality of nutritional services is provided.

Position Summary: In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Dietary Aide is responsible for providing superior customer service to Residents and employees. The Dietary Aide will help to ensure that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner by assisting in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. The Dietary Aide will assist in the preparation of food to ensure the quality of nutritional services is provided.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Reports to work on time, in proper uniform, ready to work.
  • Is a self-starter.
  • After training, recognizes what needs to be done and performs tasks without direction or hesitation.
  • Participates in the food tray line and prepares trays according to diet cards to meet scheduled meal times.
  • Loads food carts and delivers to specified areas in the facility.
  • Bags and stores food items as directed.
  • Prepares beverages as directed.
  • Scrapes, rinses, and racks unclean dishes, silverware, and cookware.
  • Runs the dish machine efficiently according to dietary guidelines.
  • Inspects dishes for cleanliness.
  • Places clean dishes in proper storage.
  • Takes trash and cardboard outside to proper bins in the parking lot.
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen and related areas.
  • Ensures work area is clean and free of hazards such as spills and excess carts.
  • Follows cleaning checklists and performs all duties as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Completes all monthly online learning as assigned.
  • Understands and follows infection control guidelines, including hand washing, isolation precautions, and OSHA standards. Promotes resident rights by respecting dignity, protecting belongings, reporting abuse or neglect, and supporting independence and decision-making.
  • Performs other tasks as required.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
Education, Training, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred.
  • One year of experience as a Dietary Aide preferred.
Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Must adhere to the no cell phone, no earbuds policy while working in the kitchen.
  • Follow personal hygiene policies, wear hair nets, and maintain short fingernails per state guidelines.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work every other Saturday and Sunday, including rotating holidays.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions, including some calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of food service, sanitation, and safety.
